The Consumer Price Index was increased from Aug 2018 to Sep 2018. The CPI was 92.8 percent in Aug 2018 and it increased to 102.9 percent in Sep 2018. However, the CPI for food items was 97.4 percent in Aug which changed to 108.9 percent in Sep. While the CPI for non-food items was 91.6 percent in Aug and it converted to 101.2 percent in Sep
The monthly inflation rate for all items was 10.9 percent in Sep 2018, up from -11.2 percent in Aug 2018. The inflation rate for food items was 5.1 percent in Aug and it increased to 11.8 percent in Sep while non-food items was -15.3 percent in Aug and it changed to 10.6 percent in Sep. It indicates that there is a big change for monthly inflation rate in all items than food and non-food items.
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. It is used to measure and monitor the overall cost of the goods and services bought by a typical consumer.
