The Consumer Price Index was increased from Sep 2018 to Oct 2018. The CPI was 99.4 percent in Sep 2018 and it increased to 101.4 percent in Oct 2018. However, the CPI for food items was 100.2 percent in Sep which changed to 102.2 percent in Oct. While the CPI for non-food items was 99.1 percent in Sep and it converted to 101.2 percent in Oct.
The monthly inflation rate for all items was 2.1 percent in Oct 2018, up from 1.0 percent in Sep 2018. The inflation rate for food items was 1.0 percent in Sep and it increased to 2.0 percent in Oct while non-food items was 1.0 percent in Sep and it changed to 2.1 percent in Oct. It indicates that there is a slightly change for monthly inflation rate in non-food and all items than food items.
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. It is used to measure and monitor the overall cost of the goods and services bought by a typical consumer.
