The Consumer Price Index was increased from Oct 2018 to Nov 2018. The CPI was 101.4 percent in Oct 2018 and it increased to 103.9 percent in Nov 2018. However, the CPI for food items was 102.2 percent in Oct which changed to 104.3 percent in Nov. While the CPI for non-food items was 101.2 percent in Oct and it converted to 103.8 percent in Nov.
The monthly inflation rate for all items was 2.4 percent in Nov 2018, up from 2.1 percent in Oct 2018. The inflation rate for food items was 2.0 percent in Oct and it changed to 2.0 percent in Nov while non-food items was 2.1 percent in Oct and it increased to 2.6 percent in Nov. It indicates that there is a slightly change for monthly inflation rate in non-food items than food and all items.
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. It is used to measure and monitor the overall cost of the goods and services bought by a typical consumer.
