Consumer Price Index: All Groups CPI, May 2019.
The All Groups CPI increased from 85.0 to 86.4 in the month of May 2019. The monthly change of May compared to the monthly change of April 2019, was an increase of 1.6 percent and 3.5 percent respectively.
The most significant monthly price increases were Clothing and Footwear (+2.6%), Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (+2.4%), Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco & Narcotics (+2.3%), Restaurants & Hotels (+1.7%), Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+1.7%), Transport (+0.4%) and Furnishings, Household Equipment & Maintenance (+0.4%). In general, there was a groundswell of positive price development.

The annual change (or inflation rate), over the twelve months to the month of May 2019, was an increase of 2.2 percent. This change is compared to an increase of 0.9 percent over the twelve months to the month of April 2019.
The most significant price increases were Transport (+10.3%), Clothing and Footwear (+6.1%), Communication (+5.1%), Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (+5.0%), Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+1.2%) and Recreation & Culture (+0.8).
These positive movements were partly offset by price decreases in Restaurants & Hotels (-1.7%), Furnishings, Household Equipment & Maintenance (-4.0%), Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco & Narcotics (-5.2%) and Miscellaneous Goods & Services (‑5.2%).
