Puntland Consumer price Index monthly report for February 2020
The All Groups CPI increased from 84.90 to 85.36 in the month of February 2020. The monthly change of February was an increase of 0.54 percent compared to an increase of 0.06 percent in the previous month of January 2020.
The most significant monthly price increases were Miscellaneous Goods & Services (8.04%) Clothing & footwear (2.49%), Tobacco & Khat (2.14%), food & nonalcoholic beverages (0.48%), Health (0.35%).
These positive movements were partially offset by price decreases in Restaurants and Hotels (-3.18%), Recreation and Culture (-0.49%) Communication (-0.43%) transport (-0.43%). leading to a relatively flat result at the All Groups CPI level.

The annual change (or inflation rate), over the twelve months to the month of February 2020, was an increase of 9.35 percent. This change is compared to an increase of 9.14 percent over the twelve months to the month of January 2020.
The most significant price increases were Tobacco & Khat (+17.73%), Clothing& footwear (+17.33%) and Recreation and Culture (+15.97%), Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (+14.04%), Health (+11.49%). however, there were a decrease in Restaurants &Hotels (-10.37%) In general, there was a groundswell of positive price development.
