Puntland Consumer price Index monthly report for December 2019
The All Groups CPI increased from 84.34 to 84.85 in the month of December 2019. The monthly change of December was an increase of 0.60 percent compared to a decrease of -0.2 percent in the previous month of November 2019.
The most significant monthly price increases were recreation &culture (+4.46%), Health (+2.83%), Miscellaneous Goods & Services (+2.26%), Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (+2.21%), Tobacco & Khat (1.44%), Clothing and Footwear (+0.62%), Furnishings, & Household Equipment (+0.35%).
These positive movements were partially offset by price decreases in Communication (-1.28%), Restaurants and Hotels (-1.12%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.52%) leading to a relatively flat result at the All Groups CPI level.

The annual change (or inflation rate), over the twelve months to the month of December 2019, was an increase of 12.39 percent. This change is compared to an increase of 13.5 percent over the twelve months to the month of November 2019.
The most significant price increases were Clothing and Footwear (+23.18%), Transport (+19.73%), Recreation and Culture (+18.80%), Tobacco & Khat (+18.11%), Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (+17.46%) and Health (+13.15%), Miscellaneous Goods & Services (+12.27%), In general, there was a groundswell of positive price development.
