Puntland Consumer price Index monthly report for April 2020
The All Groups CPI increased from 86.28 to 87.66 in the month of April 2020. The monthly change of April was an increase of 1.60 percent compared to an increase of 1.07 percent in the previous month of March 2020.
The most significant monthly price increases were Restaurants and Hotels (10.32%), Tobacco & Khat (8.31%). Clothing & footwear (3.80%), Education (2.87%), food & beverages (2.01%), Recreation and Culture (1.80%) .
These positive movements were partially offset by price decreases in Miscellaneous Goods & Services (-1.76%) and furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance (-1.03%). leading to a relatively flat result at the All Groups CPI level.

The annual change (or inflation rate), over the twelve months to the month of April 2020, was an increase of 5.08 percent. This change is compared to an increase of 9.35 percent over the twelve months to the month of March 2020.
The most significant price increases were Tobacco & Khat (25.55%), Clothing& footwear (17.04%), Education (10.17%) and Recreation and Culture (8.64%), Health (5.74%). Miscellaneous Goods & Services (5.00%) Housing, Water, Electricity & Gas (4.63%), however, there were no decrease in the annual change. In general, there has been a well-grounded positive price development.
